A review: The Hard Way by Lee Child

great fun

Reacher books make for fast reading: just the right size, page-turning excitement in a smooth, accomplished style.
Some people claim that Reacher books are formulaic but I’d say that Child’s fans read them, and avidly await the new one each year, because we love that particular formula.
Having praised one of my favourite authors I now have to admit that I don’t think this is one of his best books. In fact, I was disappointed during my second reading of One Shot. Parts of the plot seemed more predictable than is explained by the formula Lee Child is normally incredibly creative with.
On the plus side, I always enjoy reading the different U.S. settings Child finds and it was a treat having Reacher come to England this time.
