Abandoned it once. Got through it this time because the reviews were good.
The Magpies by Mark Edwards
The book begins with a couple being driven by desperation, to leave their flat. The main body of the story tells us why, through the new buyers, James and Kirsty. For me, the aggravation of this book was in its inconsistency of quality, both in the plot and writing style. Having ploughed through it to the end, I was not amused to be mocked by the pretence of a predictable ending preceded by so many lanterns I was almost blinded. On top of that, I was disappointed by the dull, actual ending.
